10 Mistakes I made as a baby christain
As a new Christian, It can be overwhelming if you have no guidance, These are few mistakes I made so that you don't repeat them.
1. Arguments
When you have just been saved, a lot of people question the changes you make in your life and they ate questioning your belief, I defended my faith and arguing with people, I soon realized that I did all I did out of pride and when the world looked at they saw no change.
My advice, show everyone love, let your works in christ show them why it's important to change.
Proverbs 10 v 11 - Hatred stirs up dissension and love covers all wrong
2 Keeping my lifestyle the same
They say change is good, for me change was scary, I didn't want to lose my friends or even be labeled` differently. Fear of the unknown so I still went to clubs, kept the same everything until it started to feel uncomfortable.
I quickly understood the scripture, you cannot serve the two Gods as there is no space for them. I made the change and that has been so fulfilling.
2 Corinthians 5v17 - Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he becomes a new creation.
3. Gossip
This for me is still a working process.
what is Gossip- Speaking about people behind their back, Using their names not in a good way, and sharing things you have no business sharing.
Sometimes one shares things with you out of distress however your advice should be in good faith, Your advice should be to build and not to fire up the problem more.
Proverbs 16v28
Gossip is spread by wicked people. They stir up trouble and break up friendships.
Ephesians 4v29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth but only what is helpful for building others according to their needs, That it may benefit those who listens
4. Talking bad about others Pastors / Ministers
Churches can hurt you and this makes it easy to talk about Pastors for doing or not doing something when you God hurt, Even our church experience can leave a bitter taste in your mouth but refrain from labeling them as we're humans and can only see the outside of a person, their faults and appearance but not their hearts, God works with hearts hence we should leave all the judging to him.
1 Chronicle 16v2
Touch not my anointed and do not hard my prophets
5. Validation and advice.
Old habits die hard and if you don't change your life you will make the mistake of wanting to ask for advice from the old friends and failed to see that we ride in different cycles. Make new friends in church and lose yourself in the word of the Lord as that would really help you. Ask God to send you helpers. Let God guide you.
1 John 4v5
They're from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world.
6. Perfect overnight
Because now I am saved I thought I won't the old urges or the old temptations but no that did not happen. I had to intentionally work on myself, re-new myself daily to God, Be consistent in the word, Find sisters and brothers that will keep me rooted deeper in the word, and find something to do in Christ, Serve.
Philippians 1v6
and so I am sure that God who began this good work in you will carry on until it is finished on the day of Christ Jesus.
7. Social Media
This is an important shift that is a must because you feed your soul with what you see and hear, so unfollow few people and follow new people. Surround yourself with everything that builds you and gives no pressure.
8. Starting a relationship after being saved.
The excitement of accepting GOD as your lord and saver needs zero disturbance, Give God your 100 % especially if you are single as you have no commitment to me sleeping around or trying to please people. You need time to grow in your faith, understand is ways and what is required of you before you can add on anyone, You need to be confident so that you are not talking off track.
9. Over Loving Youtubers and Pastors.
As you build your faith in Christ your build up the channels you follow and pastors you listen to however over loving them is a sin in the eyes of the Lord If that person you love makes the smallest mistakes your faith will fall. Love God your Lord and serve him alone, support everyone, and don't let your focus move away from God.
10. Do not run the race alone.
We form the body of Christ therefore we need to complete this body, Never Thi his race is your own alone. You need some love, some support, and a home, in the body of christ we love you and would love to have you.
Matthew 18v20
For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them
1 Corinthians 12v27
Now you are the body of Christ and one of you is a part of it.
Stay connect to God and never lose his sight.
